Wall Street Journal Color Lab

The majority of my work at the Wall Street Journal involved color correcting images for optimal clarity, detail and color accuracy for reproduction in the newspaper and on the website. I also silhouetted images and created realistic drop shadows.

Though some of the images may appear a little overexposed here, they printed perfectly in the newspaper. Compensating for the printing process and dot-spread in newsprint was the main challenge, which we managed through the use of calibrated monitors and printers, attention to detail, and an understanding of color theory and the printing process.

I was able to take out the blur and bring back a lot of detail. During my time at the Wall Street Journal, I experienced the Global Financial Crisis and witnessed the Journal’s acquisition by News Corp.
